Apeks VX2 Prescription Lenses: Options, Price & Review

Can you get prescription lenses in the Apeks VX2? Yes. The VX2 is a twin-lens mask, so each eye gets its own custom lens. We make single vision, bifocal and reader lenses for it, with astigmatism and prism correction available. A VX2 with single vision prescription lenses starts at $493. See the Apeks VX2 prescription mask.

The VX2 is a sturdy, metal-framed twin-lens mask. It's comfortable and has good-sized lenses.

What the Apeks VX2 is like to dive

The VX2 has a framed design reinforced with stainless steel and a medical-grade silicone skirt that seals on a wide range of face shapes. It suits recreational divers through technical divers.

It's similar to the Scubapro D-Mask, without the D-Mask's comfortable ski-goggle style strap, but the VX2 has larger lenses. It seals very well on dives.

Apeks VX2 bifocal, readers and single vision lenses

Lens typeWho it's forLens price
Single visionNearsighted or farsighted divers, including astigmatism+$254
BifocalDivers who need distance correction and help reading gauges. Standard, FT/ST 35 (+$40) or Franklin (+$155)+$344
ReadersGood distance vision, but can't read a dive computer up close. Standard, Gauge Reader or Oversize (+$45)+$192

Lens prices are added to the $239 mask frame when you order.

Not sure which bifocal style suits you? Our guide to bifocal dive mask lens options compares standard, flat-top and Franklin segments side by side. If you want the largest reading area, Franklin bifocals put your near correction in a separate lens across the bottom of the mask. If you only need help up close, see our reading lens options for scuba masks.

Many of us divers (including me) have astigmatism, which stock lens masks don’t correct. I am often asked if our prescription dive masks correct astigmatism. Our custom lens scuba masks do correct for astigmatism (which is noted under cylinder on your prescription). Our lenses also correct for strabismus and double vision for those divers affected with up to 10 diopters of prism.

Most divers order our prescription dive masks including the Apeks with bifocals to correct for their near vision (see gauges and dive computer) as well as distance correction.

What prescriptions can the VX2 handle?

The VX2 handles prescriptions from -12.00 to +5.00, with bifocal add powers up to +3.50 and readers up to +4.00. If yours is stronger, see our guide to prescription dive masks for strong prescriptions. We recommend high-index glass (+$65) above ±4.00 and require it above ±6.00, which keeps the lenses thinner.
